The Erasmus Orchestra was one of the main protagonists of the official celebration marking the 100th anniversary of INDIRE, the National Institute for Documentation, Innovation and Educational Research. The event, titled “A Century of INDIRE through Music, Words and Visions”, took place on Monday, December 15, 2025, at 8:00 PM in the prestigious Sala Petrassi in Rome.
During the Centenary event, the Orchestra offered an original musical journey through different eras and styles, performing works by Mozart, Bach, Rossini, Händel, as well as contemporary pieces and traditional selections from the Christmas repertoire.
The concert was conducted by Maestro Elio Orciuolo and featured the Choir of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia and the “C. Casini” Choir of the University of Rome Tor Vergata, with the collaboration of the “L. Refice” Conservatoire of Frosinone. Among the evening’s soloists were soprano Sara Semilia and mezzo-soprano Anna Konovalova, supported by an expanded orchestral ensemble of tutors, choristers, and arrangers.
An evening of music within a century of educational innovation
The INDIRE100 celebration blended the Orchestra’s performance with a narrative led by actors Laura Chiatti and Luca Ward, offering the audience a journey through the milestones that had shaped INDIRE’s educational mission over the past century.
For the Erasmus Orchestra, participation in this event represented an opportunity to highlight the cultural impact of the Erasmus programme and to showcase the excellence, diversity, and creativity of young European musicians.
