On April 4th, at 6 pm, at Fibes in Seville, the music of the Erasmus Orchestra kicked off the “Erasmus+ event: dissemination of the EU values”, in the presence of nearly 2,000 participants, among young people and teachers, from all over Europe to celebrate the values of being European citizens.

In the same place, the Erasmus Generation Meeting (EGM) 2024, in the presence of Vice President of the European Commission Margaritis Schinas, and of Spanish Educational Authorities and with the video message by Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, was launched.

The concert of the Erasmus Orchestra was introduced by the director of the Erasmus+ National Agency INDIRE (Italy), Sara Pagliai, and by the director of the Erasmus+ National Agency SEPIE (Spain), Alfonso Gentil.

The Orchestra consisted of 50 musicians/students from approximately 60 Conservatoires throughout Europe, who had undergone or were undergoing an Erasmus+ international mobility experience.

The concert was conducted by Maestro Elio Orciuolo, featuring a symphonic programme and opera arias by some of the greatest European composers, including Mozart, Rossini, Bizet, Falla, and Puccini, enhanced by dance performances by the “Antonio Ruiz Soler” Conservatoire of Dance in Seville.

The organisation of the concert received support from the “Francisco Guerrero” Conservatoire of Music in Seville, the Andalusian Youth Orchestra – OJA, and the Regional Government of Andalusia.

The performance of the Erasmus Orchestra was part of the programme of the Conference “Civic participation and EU values. Make Europe shine!”, organised by SEPIE, the Erasmus+ National Agency in Spain for the fields of education and training from April 3rd to 5th, for the “PEACE – Participation Erasmus Alumni for Civic Engagement” initiative, a cooperation activity coordinated by the Erasmus+ National Agency INDIRE (Italy) aimed at developing moments of discussion and dissemination with a network of the Erasmus+ Programme stakeholders on the theme of civic engagement and participation in democratic life.

The concert was livestreamed on Youtube.
