The Erasmus Orchestra performed again on September 6, 2023, in Perugia, on the occasion of the international thematic seminar TCA “Young Sparks Symposium,” which took place from September 3 to 7 in the village of Solomeo (PG). The seminar aimed to raise awareness among students, researchers, and coordinators of international Erasmus+ mobility and cooperation projects in the Higher Education sector about several phenomena related to human sustainability: man and science, humanism and technology, man and territory.
The concert, scheduled for 9:30 PM at the San Francesco al Prato Auditorium, featured over 50 musicians from more than 20 Italian conservatories who had completed or were completing an international Erasmus mobility experience in the Higher Artistic and Musical Education (AFAM) sector.
The Erasmus Orchestra is an initiative of the Erasmus+ INDIRE National Agency, launched in 2017 on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Erasmus Program, with the idea of creating a unique musical ensemble. The goal was to promote the values of the Erasmus Generation—open, dynamic, and supportive—and those of Europe, using music as a metaphor for integration, encounter, and skill development beyond any cultural and national barriers.
The program was very diverse, ranging from the most classical arias by Rossini, Donizetti, Bizet, and Verdi, with some surprises added.
The Orchestra was conducted by Maestro Elio Orciuolo, a professor at the “N. Rota” Conservatory of Monopoli.
The event was organized by the Erasmus+ INDIRE National Agency, in collaboration with the University of Perugia, the Brunello Cucinelli Foundation, the German Erasmus+ Agency (BIBB), and the “F. Morlacchi” Conservatory of Music in Perugia.
