8 PM Teatro Verdi, Florence (IT) Public concert STUDENTS SELECTION ENDED

On March 12, at the Verdi Theater in Florence, the Erasmus Orchestra performed to celebrate the 100th anniversary of INDIRE (National Institute for Documentation, Innovation, and Educational Research), one of the oldest research institutes of the Italian Ministry of Education, committed to promoting innovation in schools. The Orchestra also performed to inaugurate Fiera Didacta 2025, which took place in Florence (Fortezza da Basso) from March 12 to 14 and was also dedicated to this important anniversary.

Since 1925, INDIRE has studied and developed new teaching models, explored the use of emerging technologies in education, and redefined the relationship between learning spaces and time.

The ensemble consisted of around 50 young musicians from over 30 European Conservatoires and music institutes partnering in the EO project, all of whom had either completed or were currently undertaking an Erasmus experience. Their repertoire featured works by renowned European composers such as Bach, Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven.

The event was organized in collaboration with the “L. Cherubini” Conservatoire of Florence. Participation was free upon registration.

What is the Erasmus Orchestra?

The initiative holds symbolic significance and aims to spread the values of the “Erasmus Generation” – open, dynamic, and supportive – and of Europe, using music as a metaphor for integration, meeting, and the development of skills beyond linguistic, geographic, and cultural barriers.

The Orchestra also aims to promote the many Erasmus+ training and mobility opportunities for students in the Higher Education Artistic and Musical sector, contributing to enhancing the talents and excellence of European Conservatories and Musical Institutes. This involves promoting collaborations and partnerships that offer opportunities for internationalization and professional experiences for young musicians.
