Un focus sull’impegno civico e sulla cittadinanza attiva, oltreché sul dialogo interculturale e sul rafforzamento dei valori europei. Dal 3 al 6 aprile 2024, l’Agenzia nazionale Erasmus+ INDIRE è stata protagonista a Siviglia, in Spagna, con diversi appuntamenti. In primis, la partecipazione all’attività transnazionale Civic participation and EU values. Make Europe shine!, organizzata da SEPIE, l’Agenzia nazionale Erasmus+ spagnola, che ha visto la partecipazione attiva di 150 persone da oltre 20 paesi d’Europa come Germania, Austria, Belgio, Croazia, Slovenia, Spagna, Estonia, Finlandia, Francia, Grecia, Paesi Bassi, Ungheria, Irlanda, Italia, Lettonia, Lituania, Lussemburgo, Polonia, Portogallo, Repubblica Ceca, Romania, Svezia e Turchia.
L’evento, concepito come una delle TCA-Training Cooperation Activities (Cooperazione formativa tra Agenzie nazionali del Programma Erasmus+) era inserito all’interno dell’attività europea di lungo termine (LTA-Long Term Activity) PEACE, coordinata dall’Agenzia INDIRE. Tra gli altri appuntamenti a Siviglia anche il concerto dell’Orchestra Erasmus davanti al grande pubblico di giovani europei dell’Erasmus Generation Meeting 2024.
La tre giorni di eventi organizzata da SEPIE insieme con l’Agenzia INDIRE si è aperta lo scorso 3 aprile all’interno del centro congressi Silken Al-Andalus Palace con gli interventi di Amaya Cal Linares, Head of the Director’s Support Unit di SEPIE e di Sara Pagliai, coordinatrice dell’agenzia Erasmus+ INDIRE.
I lavori sono poi entrati nel vivo con l’intervento in plenaria di Paul Blokker, professore di Sociologia Politica all’Università di Bologna, sull’importanza sempre maggiore del civic engagement in Europa. Lo stesso Blokker ha poi evidenziato il cambiamento dell’impegno civico e il problema principale della democrazia contemporanea, vista la carenza di interesse da parte dei giovani. Nel suo speech Paul Blokker ha poi fornito i primi e parziali risultati dell’importante ricerca internazionale attraverso il questionario You(th) and the 2024 European elections, lanciato dall’Agenzia INDIRE nell’ambito del progetto PEACE, in vista delle prossime elezioni per il rinnovo del Parlamento europeo dal 6 al 9 giugno 2024, per conoscere il punto di vista dei giovani europei.
Nel tardo pomeriggio spazio a una visita culturale al celebre El Alcázar di Siviglia, palazzo reale patrimonio dell’Unesco, con i suoi maestosi giardini e il suo melting pot di culture.
La mattina del 4 aprile, dopo un avvio con la presentazione della piattaforma SALTO Participation & Information da parte della coordinatrice Joana Freitas dell’agenzia Erasmus+ estone, si sono poi susseguiti gli interventi in plenaria di Tommaso Visone, professore associato di Storia delle dottrine politiche presso l’Università La Sapienza di Roma e di Michele Fiorillo, dottorando in Filosofia e pensiero politico presso la Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa. Dopo i due interventi, incentrati sul tema del civic engagement e dei valori europei, il programma è proseguito con il racconto di buone pratiche dai vari paesi dell’Unione, come Estonia, Svezia, Germania, Italia e Spagna.
Centrale poi durante la mattina il momento di confronto tra i vari partecipanti all’evento, che si sono si sono riuniti in oltre dieci gruppi di lavoro per discutere di tre macro tematiche proposte da Paul Blokker, ovvero: mobilità dell’apprendimento ed elezioni europee, età di voto alle prossime consultazioni e sottorappresentazione giovanile all’interno del Parlamento europeo. Ai partecipanti è stato chiesto di prendere posizione sui vari temi argomentando i diversi punti di vista, con i topic emersi da ciascun gruppo che saranno presentati in un report finale, a cura dello stesso professor Blokker.
Nel pomeriggio del 4 aprile, in scena altri gruppi di lavoro su temi come l’uso dei social network per promuovere la partecipazione attiva o gli strumenti e le strategie per diventare ambasciatore Erasmus+. Il gruppo dei partecipanti ha poi preso parte alla cerimonia di apertura dell’Erasmus Generation Meeting 2024, organizzato da ESN-Erasmus Student Network, all’interno del centro congressi cittadino Fibes.
Durante il maxi evento che ha coinvolto 2mila giovani Erasmus+ da tutta Europa, oltre ad autorità cittadine e internazionali, e che il prossimo anno sarà ospitato ad Ancona, in Italia, ha rivolto un video saluto la Presidente della Commissione Ursula von der Leyen, a cui è seguito l’intervento in presenza del vicepresidente della Commissione Margaritis Schinas, che ha parlato della necessità di crescere come Europa e che uno degli strumenti simbolo dell’identità sia il nuovo European Degree, titolo riconosciuto in tutta l’Unione.
L’appuntamento ha visto sul finale il concerto dell’Orchestra Erasmus che con un alternarsi di successi di Mozart, Puccini, Mascagni, Rossini e Bizet ha celebrato l’unione nella diversità, attraverso la musica. Un successo da standing ovation, suggellato dalla richiesta del pubblico di giovani di un doppio bis.
Venerdì 5 aprile la TCA Civic participation and EU values. Make Europe shine! è ancora una volta tornata nella città andalusa per l’iniziativa Erasmus goes to town! Diverse scuole di Siviglia di ogni ordine e grado hanno ospitato le delegazioni internazionali per condividere storie ed esperienze con alunni, insegnanti, educatori e studenti.
L’impegno dell’Agenzia nazionale Erasmus+ INDIRE a Siviglia si è poi concluso con un ulteriore appuntamento lo scorso 6 aprile, dove davanti al pubblico dell’Erasmus Generation Meeting è stata presentata l’iniziativa PEACE, anche tramite uno stand dedicato per la diffusione dei suoi progetti focalizzati sul civic engagement, oltre alla promozione del questionario internazionale rivolto ai giovani in vista delle prossime elezioni europee.

Great success in Seville for the three days of PEACE events on civic engagement and for the Erasmus Orchestra concert
A focus on civic engagement and active citizenship, as well as on intercultural dialogue and the strengthening of European values. From 3 to 6 April 2024, the Erasmus+ national agency INDIRE was the protagonist in Seville, Spain, with various events. First of all, with the participation in the transnational activity Civic participation and EU values. Make Europe shine!, organized by SEPIE, the Spanish national Erasmus+ Agency, which saw the active participation of 150 people from over 20 European countries such as Germany, Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Slovenia, Spain, Estonia, Finland, France , Greece, the Netherlands, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Poland, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Romania, Sweden and Turkey.
The event, one of the TCA-Training Cooperation Activities (Training cooperation between national agencies of the Erasmus+ Programme), was included within the European long-term activity (LTA-Long Term Activity) PEACE, coordinated by the INDIRE Agency. Other events in Seville include the Erasmus Orchestra concert in front of the large audience of young Europeans at the Erasmus Generation Meeting 2024.
The three days of events organized by SEPIE together with the INDIRE Agency opened last April 3rd inside the Silken Al-Andalus Palace conference center with speeches by Amaya Cal Linares, Head of the Director’s Support Unit of SEPIE and Sara Pagliai, coordinator of the Erasmus+ INDIRE agency.
The work has begun with the plenary speech by Paul Blokker, professor of Political Sociology at the University of Bologna, on the growing importance of civic engagement in Europe. Paul Blokker then highlighted the change in civic engagement and the main problem of contemporary democracy, given by the lack of interest from young people. In his speech Paul Blokker then presented the first and partial results of the important international research through the You(th) and the 2024 European elections questionnaire, launched by the INDIRE Agency within the PEACE project, for the next elections for the European Parliament from 6 to 9 June 2024, to find out the point of view of young Europeans.
In the afternoon there was time for a cultural visit to the famous El Alcázar of Seville, a UNESCO heritage royal palace, with its majestic gardens and its melting pot of cultures.
On the morning of April 4th, after starting with the presentation of the SALTO Participation & Information platform by the coordinator Joana Freitas of the Estonian Erasmus+ agency, there was then a succession of interventions in the plenary session by Tommaso Visone, associate professor of History of political doctrines at La Sapienza University, Rome and Michele Fiorillo, PhDc in Philosophy and Political Thought at the Scuola Normale Superiore, Pisa. After the two speeches, focused on the theme of civic engagement and European values, the program continued with the story of good practices from the various countries of the Union, such as Estonia, Sweden, Germany, Italy and Spain.
During the morning was also central the workshops between the various participants, who gathered in over ten working groups to discuss three macro themes proposed by Paul Blokker: learning mobility and European elections, voting age at the next consultations and youth under-representation in the European Parliament. Participants were asked to take a position on the various topics by arguing the different points of view, with the topics emerging from each group which will be presented in a final report, curated by Professor Blokker.
On the afternoon of April 4th, other working groups were organized on various topics such as the use of social networks to promote active participation or the tools and strategies for becoming an Erasmus+ ambassador. The group of participants then took part in the opening ceremony of the Erasmus Generation Meeting 2024, organized by ESN-Erasmus Student Network, inside the Fibes city conference centre.
During the maxi event which involved 2 thousand Erasmus+ young people from all over Europe, as well city and international authorities, and which will be hosted in Ancona (Italy) next year, the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen addressed a video greeting. This was followed by a speech of the Vice President of the Commission Margaritis Schinas, who spoke about the need to grow as Europe and that one of the symbolic tools of identity is the new European Degree, a title recognized throughout the Union.
The event culminated in a concert by the Erasmus Orchestra which, with an alternation of successes by Mozart, Puccini, Mascagni, Rossini and Bizet, celebrated unity in diversity, through music. A standing ovation success, sealed by the young audience’s request for an encore.
On April 5 the participants of TCA took part of Erasmus goes to town! initiative in Seville, with schools of all levels that hosted the international delegations to share stories and experiences with pupils, teachers, educators and students.
The Erasmus+ Italian national Agency INDIRE concluded its commitments with a further event on April 6, where the PEACE initiative was presented in front of the public of the Erasmus Generation Meeting, also through a dedicated fair stand for the dissemination of its projects focused on civic engagement, as well for the promotion of the international questionnaire to deeply understand the issues of young Europeans.
